I really pushed through these days. Just doing the drawings for the sake of themselves, enjoying the process and learning something very important
It is quite okay to daw the same thing multiple times. In so doing, you train yourself to see the scene and you learn what’s actually there.
You create a path for yourself to understand how to draw things in a way that your brain can recognise.
In volume 9 I began to touch on a simple and obvious truth that’s often difficult for beginners - newcomers to drawing on location - Every detail doesn’t have to be drawn. In my case it can’t, I don’t have the time or physical space. This was difficult to accept. But accepting it brought so much freedom.
Just the simple marks and space left for each drawing to breathe was so much more impactful that having a lot going on the page.
I began numbering drawings and stopped. But now as I’m drafting this post, I’m thinking that drawing numbers should resume again. It will be helpful in the future.
Daily practices often have moments like this. When you’re just doing the thing. I’ve been learning to show up even in these times since, showing up and developing a habit is the greater goal.
